Hello we’re Mike Leigh (writer/director) and Simon Channing Williams (producer).
We started Thin Man Films Ltd back in 1988, so we’re celebrating our twentieth birthday this year.
We take our name from our respective shapes – we’re both on the tubby side! (We think it’s a good joke!) Here’s a picture of us, cinematographer Dick Pope and our star, the brilliant Sally Hawkins, on location in London last summer while we were shooting our latest movie, Happy-Go-Lucky.
Our little company has one sole purpose. We only make Mike Leigh’s films. We don’t do anything else. And, as you’ll probably know, Mike creates all his own material and writes his original scripts by his famous and unique rehearsal method with his actors. As he says, “I’ve got far more ideas for films than I’ll ever get round to making before I die.”
So it goes without saying that you’d be seriously wasting your time if you sent us screenplays, treatments, books, ideas, or other suggestions. In fact, any material you do send we promise not to read so please don’t send it.
